New in the Energy Guide: Energy Transportation
One of the major issues with energy is its transport across time or space. This is particularly true with renewable energies, which are climate dependent and vary enormously over time.
Energy is transported instantaneously from points of production to points of consumption over extra-high-voltage power lines. Located overhead or underground, these lines are similar to road networks, with freeways (extra-high-voltage lines), highways (high-voltage lines) and secondary roads (medium- and low-voltage lines).
