Encapsulation, sealing, thermal management : DOWSIL™ solutions at Batteries Event 2025
From November 4 to 6 in Lyon, Samaro and Dow will join forces at Batteries Event. We’ll meet the battery ecosystem at the Lyon Convention Centre for a new edition of the show. Samaro, a distributor of DOWSIL™ solutions, will present concrete answers to the challenges of safety, reliability, and industrialization for battery packs and systems.
Booth F38: come meet our teams and fast-track your battery projects.
The event is exclusively professional, bringing together OEMs, Tier-1/2 suppliers, cell and module manufacturers, pack integrators, testing & safety experts, engineering firms, R&D, procurement, and industrialization teams. Shared priorities include fire protection, EMI/EMC compliance, and recyclability, with strict cost control throughout the industrial lifecycle.
On the Dow side, Eric VANLATHEM (Senior Application Engineer) and Gregory FILOU (Market Manager, e-Mobility) will share field-proven feedback and use cases.
At our booth, you can also speak with Esther JOSEPH (Electrical & Electronics Brand Manager) and Yannick DUBOIS (Communications Officer).
DOWSIL™ 7091 Adhesive Sealant

It is a one-component silicone sealant that cures at room temperature upon exposure to ambient humidity, using an alkoxy curing system.
Technical data:
- Skin-over time: approx. 15 minutes
- Hardness after cure: ~32 Shore A
- Elongation at break: ~680%
- Continuous operating temperature range: –55 °C to +180 °C
- Certified UL 94-HB and RTI up to 105 °C
- Colors : grey
Benefits for battery applications:
- Durable and reliable adhesion to a wide variety of substrates (metal, plastics, composites), often without the need for a primer.
- Excellent flexibility, allowing absorption of thermal expansion and mechanical stresses in battery systems exposed to wide temperature variations and thixotrope.
- Outstanding resistance to harsh environments (–55 °C to +180 °C), making it ideal for outdoor enclosures, charging stations, or exposed modules.
- Single-component system for simplified processing — no 2K mixing required, ideal for automated assembly lines.
Typical applications:
- Bonding and sealing of BMS housings, battery modules, and charging station enclosures.
- Formed-in-Place Gasket (FIPG) applications for creating gaskets directly on parts.
- Areas requiring flame resistance or high dielectric strength certification.
DOWSIL™ 3‑8259 RF Silicone Foam

It is a two-component (2K) silicone foam that cures at room temperature, designed to be deposited directly onto the part to form an integrated, compressible gasket (Integrated Compression Gasket).
Key technical data:
- Mix ratio: 1:1
- Post-cure hardness: ~50 Shore 00
- Density after cure: ~300–360 kg/m³
- Typical service temperature range: –55 °C to +180 °C
- Reduced-flow formulation to limit sag on inclined or vertical surfaces
- Colors : black and white
Benefits for battery applications:
- Creates a continuous gasket without die-cutting → fewer steps and fewer assembly errors
- Excellent tolerance compensation — ideal for modular housings, lids, and BMS covers
- Low compression set even at elevated temperature → long-term sealing integrity
- Suited to automated foam dispensing for high-volume production
- Protects against moisture, dust, vibration, and thermal cycling (critical for battery packs)
Typical applications:
- Sealing gaskets for control box lids or module covers
- In-place foaming around sensitive components to absorb vibration and provide environmental isolation
- Use on inclined or vertical surfaces
DOWSIL™ 8257 Silicone Foam

Not to be missed: Eric Vanlathem’s presentation
The 2025 edition of Batteries Event promises to be rich in technical insights and real-world feedback.
Among the key sessions, Eric Vanlathem, Senior Application Engineer at Dow, will speak during Session 15 — Battery Test & Safety, on Wednesday, November 5, at 4:45 p.m.
His presentation will highlight real-life application cases focused on the reliability and safety of battery packs, addressing several critical topics:
- Protection against thermal and mechanical risks
- Prevention of insulation failures and current leakage
- Compliance with UL 94 and IEC standards for dielectric performance
- Implementation of DOWSIL™ silicone materials to combine safety, lightweight design, and manufacturing productivity
Drawing on extensive collaborations with OEMs and system integrators in the e-mobility sector, Eric Vanlathem will provide a practical, production-oriented perspective on validated silicone solutions for battery systems.
The session will conclude with a Q&A opportunity to engage directly with Dow’s technical team and discuss your own design or process challenges.
A unique opportunity to benchmark your design challenges against the experience of a global silicone materials expert in the battery industry.
❓ FAQ – Batteries Event 2025 with Samaro & Dow
🔹 Where can I find more information about the products presented?
You can access the official technical data sheets directly on samaro.fr.
Samaro and Dow will showcase DOWSIL™ products specifically designed for battery environments:
- DOWSIL™ 3-8259 RF: two-component “foam-in-place” silicone foam for integrated compressible gaskets
- DOWSIL™ 8257: soft two-component silicone foam for encapsulation and environmental sealing
- DOWSIL™ 7091: one-component neutral silicone for bonding and sealing housings, enclosures, and modules
These references address needs in sealing, environmental protection, thermal management, and dielectric safety for battery packs.
🔹 Which foam silicone is fire-resistant ?
DOWSIL™ 3-8259 RF is not only fire-resistant but also flexible (≈ 50 Shore 00), with a low compression set, density of 300–360 kg/m³, and an operating range from –55 °C to +180 °C.
