Permabond 2050 – Bonding Solution for O-ring Manufacture and Repair

Because they are easy to use, O-rings are widely used as gaskets in hydromechanical systems.

Whenever O-rings need to be repaired or O-rings of non-standard diameter are necessary, the usual solution is to bond together the ends of a ring with cyanoacrylate adhesive.

Samaro and Permabond recommend using Permabond 2050 adhesive for such applications. It rapidly bonds (less than 30 seconds) most rubbers typically used to make O-rings* and resists commonly used lubricants (silicone or PFPE oils or greases, anti-friction coatings, etc.).

It also forms invisible, flexible bonds. Whereas other market products remain hard and form rigid bonds, Permabond 2050 exhibits very low compressive strength after curing.

As a result, it prevents bond defects, extends O-ring life and ensure lasting seals.

*Use Permabond POP primer for hard-to-bond rubbers (VMQ silicone, FKM fluoroelastomers, EPDM).
