CORALIGHT® 600: When Upcycling Meets High Performance
DUNA-Corradini’s 600 kg/m³ polyurethane machinable board that redefines the standards of strength, machinability and environmental responsibility.
87% recycled content · Certiquality certified no. P 5229
A material born from the belief that waste does not exist
In sectors such as tooling, technical furniture and refrigeration, finding a substrate that combines mechanical strength, insulation, relative lightness and environmental compliance often means making compromises. CORALIGHT® 600 by DUNA-Corradini changes the equation.
Manufactured from high-quality upcycled production by-products, this high-density PU machinable board — 600 kg/m³ — is the result of an industrial approach launched in 2015 as part of the DUNA-Corradini S.p.A. Group’s “SFRIDO ZERO” project. A new dedicated upcycling industrial facility was inaugurated in July 2021 in Soliera, Modena, Italy, confirming the Group’s commitment to a real circular economy — not just a declared one.
At Samaro, as a distributor of technical materials for professionals in moulding, model-making and tooling, we selected CORALIGHT® 600 because it meets the requirements our customers express every day: uncompromising mechanical performance, certified environmental traceability and application versatility.
CAM compliance: Much more than a green label
The market is full of sustainability claims. What sets CORALIGHT® 600 apart is documented proof. The product is certified as compliant with the Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) defined by the ministerial decree of 6 August 2022 — a key requirement for public tenders and CSR-driven projects.
🏅Certification Certiquality no. P 5229
- Recycled content ≥ 85% by weight, verified and certified by the accredited body Certiquality S.r.l.
- No lead-based catalysts or components in the formulation.
- No substances of very high concern — SVHC — present above 0.1% by weight, ensuring full REACH compliance.
- No blowing agents likely to deplete the ozone layer.
For design offices, public buyers and industrial companies subject to environmental audits, this documentation is a decisive argument when selecting a material.
CORALIGHT® 600 is not “eco-designed” out of opportunism: its sustainability is inherent to its manufacturing process.
“A material that performs like a composite, machines like a fine wood, resists like a high-density PU foam — and is environmentally justified through certification.”
Performance figures that speak to engineers
Beyond the environmental argument, professionals need data. Below are the typical values measured according to EN and ASTM standards:

💡Key point for machinists
Unlike many recycled composite materials, CORALIGHT® 600 is 100% polyurethane: no grain, no discontinuity, no visible pores. This complete homogeneity ensures optimal repeatability during milling, CNC cutting or drilling — a decisive advantage for applications where dimensional accuracy is critical.
Why choose CORALIGHT® 600 over another substrate?
The market for high-density machinable boards is highly competitive. Here is what positions CORALIGHT® 600 above wood, MDF, conventional recycled materials and standard PU foams.
🎨 High-quality finish
A homogeneous surface compatible with high-gloss mirror paint, primers, adhesives and almost all finishing systems available on the market.
💧 Imperméabilité remarquable
Water absorption below 0.2 kg/m² — EN 317 — and thickness swelling of only 0.25%. Stable performance in humid or outdoor environments.
🔩 Superior screw retention
153 kgf at 25 mm, exceeding the performance of solid wood and most recycled materials. Ideal for mechanically stressed assemblies.
🛡️ Chemical and biological resistance
Resistant to bacteria, mould and common solvents. No microbiological degradation over time, even in food-processing or marine environments.
🌡️ Chemical and biological resistance
Thermal conductivity of 75 mW/mK at −10°C. This PU machinable board contributes to insulation without requiring an additional layer in many cases.
From construction sites to workshops: The sectors that trust CORALIGHT® 600
The properties of CORALIGHT® 600 are not limited to a single sector. Its unique combination of insulation, strength and machinability makes it a highly versatile material, used in environments as diverse as construction, refrigeration and technical joinery.
🔧 Models, prototypes and industrial moulding
This PU machinable board is a natural fit for model-making and moulding workshops. Its high density allows fine details to be machined by CNC, its stability ensures repeatability for matrices, and its homogeneous surface reduces the preparation steps required before coating or metallisation. For professionals designing moulds, masters or jigs, it is a serious alternative to solid wood or filled resin.
🪑 Technical furniture and interior fitting
Tables, shelves and indoor/outdoor furniture structures, decorative profiles and mouldings, yacht and motorhome interior components. The material’s homogeneity and compatibility with premium finishes — lacquer, varnish, epoxy paint — open the way to aesthetic applications where appearance matters just as much as function.
🏗️ Construction and building envelope
Window frames and counter-frames, roller shutter boxes, thresholds and window sills, fixing elements for external thermal insulation systems. CORALIGHT® 600 eliminates thermal bridges where wood or aluminium create heat-loss zones. Its moisture resistance makes it a preferred choice for exposed window reveals.
❄️Refrigeration and cold-chain logistics
Insulation panels for counters and refrigeration systems, reinforcement structures for refrigerated vehicles, insulating partitions for cold rooms. Its operating range from −30°C to +100°C and low water absorption make it a reference material for environments with significant thermal variation. Its dimensional stability at −25°C — ±0.05% — is particularly valued in this context.
