Born2Bond™ UV-Acrylic LC 177: Bostik’s New Non-CMR Gel

The Born2Bond™ UV-Acrylic LC 177 is a non-CMR (non-carcinogenic, non-mutagenic, and non-reprotoxic) gel that offers high durability, transparency when cured, and ease of handling. It can be used with metals, glass, and plastics, including ABS and PMMA. Non-toxic and solvent-free, this range can be dispensed using a wide variety of equipment and methods. The patented Nanostrength® technology developed by Bostik’s parent company, Arkema, ensures greater impact resistance and elongation properties while filling gaps, with low shrinkage and no cracking, further enhancing performance. This is supported by a low exothermic reaction during formation, reducing the risk of mechanical stress that could damage the substrates.

Technical features of Born2Bond™ UV-Acrylic LC 177

  • Low shrinkage and no cracking
  • Transparent after curing (no yellowing)
  • Highly durable – impact, chemical, and temperature resistance, with low water absorption
  • Multi-substrate adhesion (metals, glass, and plastics, including ABS and PMMA)
  • Gap filling properties
  • Wide UV wavelength range (between 365 and 405 nm)
  • High elongation (200%)
  • Viscosity: 120,000 mPa.s
  • Tensile strength: 11 MPa
  • Temperature resistance: -55 to +120 °C

LC 177 is available in liquid to gel viscosities and can be packaged in small syringes up to 20 kg pails. This versatility makes it suitable for various part designs and production operations, whether small or large.

Typical applications:

  • Luxury goods (e.g., perfume and cosmetics packaging, jewelry, watches)
  • Electronics (e.g., PCB assembly, coating, encapsulation)
  • Automotive (e.g., ADAS)
  • General assembly (e.g., bonding plastic and glass parts)

It is worth noting that Born2Bond LC177 is a non-CMR gel and contains a UV tracer to facilitate application and control of the curing process. This allows better visibility during UV exposure and ensures precise and uniform application.
