New Permabond products : two new adhesives special PE and PP!

Permabond continues to innovate and launches two new structural adhesive specially designed for bonding polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP).

Due to their low surface energy, polyolefins (such as PE and PP) are part of the “black list” of adhesion. These plastics are known to be extremely difficult to bond materials.

There are several options to increase the surface energy of these plastics and to make them easier to bond : Corona, plasma, primer, flame treatment … These treatments have several constraints: longer process time, high cost, need to integrate a special equipment on the production line…

Unlike most other adhesives market, the two new products PERMABOND TA4610 and TA4620 manage to bond these polyolefins, even without any surface treatment. These products are 2K acrylic-based thixotropic adhesives that can handle up to 120°C continuously.

In addition to a good adhesion on polyolefins, they also show an excellent adhesion to other substrates such as metals, composites, and most plastics. They are available in 50ml or 400ml cartridges, and in bulk (5kg or 25kg pails).
